This is another one of my absolute favourites, not in the least because of the amazing guest vocalist James Bradshaw who's got amazing screen presence.
The brief for this video was for it all to be filmed entirely in one take. We ended up doing fourteen in total. I filmed it all on the DJI Ronin-S stabiliser and my arm was absolutely knackered by the end but it was so worth it.
We wanted it to look as classy as possible so we wheeled in the upright piano to the studio and decorated it with nice warm lamps, the couch, the oak table and I even printed off a "JC & The Two-Steps" wine label that you can see if you look closely enough.
Editing was a breeze because it was a one-er. I just spent most of my time on the colour correction to try and emulate that lovely warm faded film look that reminds me of Motown.
Fun fact - the eagle-eyed amongst you will probably be able to notice that this is actually two takes stitched together. The performances just looked better in the two different takes so I tried to blend them together.
Ultimately this was a great one, and the recording/mix from Sam Broadbere is one of the best he's done! And one of the highlights was that amazing spin he does on his piano stool ...
